All Website Visitors
We use "cookies" on this site. A cookie is a piece of data stored on a site visitor's hard drive that helps website owners improve access to the site and identify repeat visitors. For instance, when we use a cookie to identify you, you would not have to log in with a password more than once, thereby saving you time. Cookies also enable us to track and target the interests of our users so as to enhance their individual experiences on our site. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to collecting personally identifiable information.
How does our site handle Do Not Track (DNT) signals?
We honor do not track signals and we do not track, plant cookies, or use advertising when a Do Not Track (DNT) browser mechanism is in place. We do not allow third party behavioral tracking.
Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to information that you voluntarily give us through email or other direct contact. We will not sell, rent, or otherwise provide this information to anyone.
If you are exclusively a website visitor, there’s no need to read on.
The rest of this policy only applies to CarPrint app users.
Information Collection, Use, and Sharing (continued)
We will use your information to respond to you regarding the reason(s) that you contacted us. We will not share your personal information with any third parties outside of our organization other than as necessary to fulfill your request(s). For example, with your permission we would use your PII to ship you an order.
Your Access to and Control Over Information
• Learn what data we have associated with you
• Change or correct any data associated with you
• Request us to delete any original data associated with you
• Express any concerns about how we use your data
Users can change their personal information by emailing us and/or logging in to their CarPrint account.
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information to our website, your information is protected both online and offline.
Our website is scanned on a regular basis for security holes and known vulnerabilities in order to make your visit to our site as safe as possible. We use regular Malware Scanning.
Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to these systems, and are required to keep all such information confidential.
All financial transactions are processed through a gateway provider and are not stored or processed on our servers. Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as GPS data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by locating a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or by confirming that "https" is at the beginning of the web page address.
While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees or consultants who need the information to perform a specific job (e.g., customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
Registration is a three-step process involving:
1. Registering and paying on the CarPrint website
2. Purchasing an on-board diagnostics scanner (described elsewhere)
3. Downloading the free CarPrint app from the Apple App Store, the Google Play Store, or Amazon.
What information do we collect through the CarPrint app?
The CarPrint app is a data collection tool. We use it to collect information about driving circumstances and driving style. This includes data on GPS location, speed, and trip dates and times, as well as other data not considered sensitive (e.g., vehicle fuel use, RPM). These data are fundamental to full participation in CarPrint.
Some people consider GPS data to be the most personal of these types of data. Nevertheless, most of us allow our phone, map providers, and many other apps to access GPS data because it improves our experiences with these products. The same applies to CarPrint.
CarPrint was designed to use GPS, so the default setting involves collecting GPS data. GPS is required to give you the full game experience and allow for the most accurate data collection. In addition, you will be able to view maps of all your trips. If you choose to play without GPS, you will not be able to see trip maps and the data on speed and distance will be significantly less accurate. You can choose to turn off GPS in the CarPrint settings on your mobile device. Go to “Settings” and then “Log Setup.”
For most vehicles, the CarPrint app and OBD scanner are able to read the 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN). The VIN is needed to verify the fuel economy mileage ratings for your vehicle. In some cases, we may need you to provide or confirm your vehicle’s VIN.
User Experience Surveys
CarPrint is a new game and it’s still under development. With help from players and supporters, we will continually improve the game to make it the best experience possible. Occasionally we will ask players to complete surveys. Participation in these surveys is completely voluntary and you may choose whether or not to participate.
